A Contestant’s Struggle Moved Everyone

Vishal Premchand Rathod, a daily wage worker from Washim, Maharashtra, shared his family’s difficult financial circumstances after reaching the hot seat on Kaun Banega Crorepati 18.

Vishal revealed that he earns around Rs 500 to Rs 600 a day when work is available. On days when he cannot find work, he returns home without an income. His father also works as a daily wage labourer, while his mother works as a cleaner at a canteen.

His Father Made An Emotional Appeal

The most emotional moment came when Vishal’s father folded his hands and appealed for help in finding his son a stable job.

He expressed his pain as a father and said that even a small job for Vishal could help secure the family’s future and provide some stability as he and his wife grow older. Vishal’s parents and two sisters were present in the studio during his appearance.

Vishal explained that he and his father often leave home together in search of daily wage work. Sometimes they have to wait until 12 or 1 in the afternoon without finding employment, forcing them to return home empty handed.

Vishal’s own words captured the reality behind his daily struggle. He explained that he works as a labourer because circumstances leave him with little choice, while continuing to dream of securing a stable job.

He also spoke about wanting to change his family’s circumstances. His father is 56 and his mother is 48, while his two sisters are still studying. Vishal hopes to support his parents, help his sisters continue their education and eventually focus on his own studies.

He also shared a deeply personal regret: despite wanting to, he has never been able to buy his father new clothes for festivals.

Vishal’s story visibly moved Amitabh Bachchan, who also appealed to viewers to help if they could provide a suitable employment opportunity.

The moment quickly spread across social media, where viewers described the episode as a stark reflection of the employment challenges faced by many working families. The discussion also highlighted the difficulty of finding stable work when applicants are asked for experience or personal references.

For Vishal, however, the KBC appearance became more than a quiz show opportunity.
