Spiritual leader Sadhguru Jagadish Vasudev has pledged ₹1 crore to Nepal’s Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund following devastating flash floods along the Nepal Tibet border.

The announcement came during an In Solidarity With Nepal event in Kathmandu, where Sadhguru expressed solidarity with those affected by the disaster and called for immediate relief and rehabilitation efforts.

The floods have caused widespread destruction and left thousands of people missing or feared dead.

Beyond financial aid, Sadhguru called for the creation of a five nation Himalayan Board involving India, China, Pakistan, Nepal and Bhutan.

The proposed body would coordinate disaster preparedness and response across the Himalayan region, which spans national borders but shares the same fragile mountain ecosystem.

Sadhguru argued that disasters affecting the Himalayas should not be treated as the responsibility of one country alone.

The devastating floods struck communities around the Nepal Tibet border, causing deaths, destruction of infrastructure and widespread displacement. Rescue operations have been complicated by difficult terrain and continuing risks in the region.

The disaster has also affected international pilgrims travelling through the Himalayan region. Sadhguru previously said that 77 participants of an Isha Kailash pilgrimage group were unaccounted for after the flooding, along with three Isha volunteers on the Nepal side.

Sadhguru’s appeal goes beyond the current relief effort, focusing on how Himalayan countries can better prepare for future disasters.

He has called for the proposed Himalayan Board to look at the mountains as a shared ecological system, rather than treating environmental and disaster challenges within individual national boundaries.

The proposal comes as the region confronts increasing risks from floods, landslides and other climate related hazards.

Assam's floods have affected communities across several districts following heavy monsoon rainfall, leaving many families dependent on relief and recovery assistance.

For people dealing with displacement and the loss of essential belongings, contributions to relief funds can help support access to food, shelter and other necessities during a difficult period.

Raina's ₹10 lakh contribution represents solidarity with communities facing hardship. Alongside support from other public figures and relief organizations, such efforts can help maintain attention on Assam and encourage wider participation in humanitarian relief and recovery.
